East Chop Tennis Club has hired Jennifer Gelhaus as its new Tennis Director for the upcoming 2020 Summer. A nationwide search by BeyondTheBaselines.com gathered 67 candidates for the position.
“After creating a thorough club profile, we built a detailed job description and Jennifer Gelhaus ticked all the boxes.” said Ed Shanaphy, President of BeyondTheBaselines.com, which will continue to assist and advise the club and Jennifer through this transition period.
East Chop Tennis Club is one of the oldest clubs on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. Located in the port town of Oak Bluffs, it was established in 1910 and will be celebrating its 110th year in 2020. The club features eight clay courts and more than 300 active member families. A full slate of tennis activities that includes private lessons, group lessons and interclub play keeps the courts going all day long.

Jennifer Gelhaus Tennis Resume
Jennifer Gelhaus, a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University, joins East Chop after serving as Junior Director at the esteemed Maidstone Golf Club in East Hampton, Long Island, NY for the past six summers.
She served for four years at Harbor Island Athletic Club and Spa in Tampa, FL during the winters. This winter, Jennifer served as Assistant Director at The Boulevard Tennis Club in Vero Beach, FL and has instructed in the past at Jupiter Island Club, Hobe Sound, FL.
She coached college at both Indiana University/Purdue University and Hillsborough Community College, where she was named Coach of the Year by the FCSAA and NJCAA Committees.
Gelhaus is a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) certified professional and serves on the USPTA’s National Endorsement Committee. Her playing experience saw her progress to the Division II NCAA National Tournament after earning the South Atlantic Conference’s Student Award for Athletic Success and Academic Excellence.
